On Alert

I have several family members and friends whom over the years have needed to wear medical alert bracelets.  The thing about them is that although they are a necessity for some folks, you also want them to be stylish and fit in with your existing wardrobe. I've gotten a lot of requests from people asking for recommendations to accomplish both these feats: 1) Displaying the required information and 2) Being fashionable enough as to not detract from their existing wardrobe or jewelry.

Well, I've been searching and I did find a few options available that would mix well with stacking bracelets or layered necklaces while still containing all the pertinent information.  I also wanted to find medical alert solutions that had a bit more subtle appearance making them perfect for layering.

A word of caution though...If you require medical alert jewelry; consider wearing it by itself.  Perhaps on the wrist you without a stack party?  Remember, in case of an emergency, the responding medics need to be able to find the necessary information quickly!

Here's a few of my top picks:

This unframed Round Charm in sterling silver is perfect for a necklace & is gender-neutral enough to work
for both men & women, by Heather B. Moore Fine Jewelry, $150.

These 14k Bangles are available in either yellow or white gold & allow for custom engraving, by N-Style ID, $1,895.
They are perfect for the fine jewelry lover who stacks her bangles.

This mixed metals medical alert Bracelet has chunky styling in sterling silver & a touch of yellow gold,
by James Avery Jewelry, $330.  It's perfect for men but is also great for women who like to layer & love big, bold pieces.

This teardrop pendant in 14k yellow gold comes with a 22" matching chain from the Medic Alert Foundation, $849.
It is perfect for both men & women & can be engraved on the back with the basic information.

This 14k yellow gold medical alert disc is available through Zales, $134.10.  This charm is simple which makes it
perfect for all ages & genders.  Personally, I wish they had white gold version available but is does also come in sterling silver.

This mixed metals rotating charm is available as a bracelet or necklace & is fully engraveable.  Made of
sterling silver & 14k yellow gold by Serpent and Staff on Etsy, $379.  I love this piece!  So wonderful!

Now, although this 14k white gold cuff isn't being marketed specifically as a medical alert bracelet; I think it's
perfect for it!  You can have it personalized in any format that you want by Charitable Creations, $949.95.  Plus, it
comes in both a polished & a brushed finish.  I love it!  It's perfect for an alert bracelet & reasonably priced for the excellent quality.
