Day Trippin' - Omaha, Nebraska
This past week, the Mr. and I took a few days and headed north to the great city of Omaha, Nebraska. Now, let me preface this by saying (and please don't shoot me for saying this...) that we are not baseball fans. However, we did learn the hard way - as in finding a last-minute hotel deal was out of the question - that the second week in June is a biggie for college baseball fans. It is, apparently, the College Baseball World Series. So what started out for us as a simple road trip became a true adventure!
But, lack of hotel deals aside, Omaha is really a great city and is perfect for a day trip! Th city is home to an award-winning zoo and aquarium - the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium; and the most adorable shopping and entertainment district - Old Market. And, naturally, I found some fabulous jewelry stores in Old Market that made the trip even more worthwhile...especially if you're a jewelry lover!
If you're looking for a shop that is host to several of the top-notch, local jewelry artisans, then look no further than Goldsmith Silversmith. If you're looking for unique designs that you won't find anywhere else, then this should be your first stop! The shop is home to several local designers with a wide variety of backgrounds and expertise which makes for some very eclectic collections that are sure to make you stop and take notice! The examples below are a perfect reflection of what makes Goldsmith Silversmith unique.
One of the other favorite shops that I found was Perspective Jewelry Design Studio. They have a long history in the region of doing a lot of custom work for more well-known, branded jewelry stores. They are a bit of an industry secret in our area. Then, several years ago, they decided to open their doors to the general public so that they could work more closely with the clientele they had previously only known through others. The result...Nothing short of amazing!

One of their custom designed pieces with a more vintage-inspired look featuring yellow & white gold around the sapphire centerpiece. |
Gold, diamond & ancient coin ring. Personally, I love the bulk of this ring & how the design features on the shank compliment the coin. |
